Iran’s children festival goes inclusive

Isfahan’s Chaharbagh cineplex hosts films for visually impaired children.

As part of the 37th International Film Festival for Children and Youth, Chaharbagh cineplex in the Iranian province of Isfahan hosts a special program designed for children with visual impairments.

In this unique section, films are screened with audio description, which is a service enabling blind or low‑vision audiences to better understand visual content.

Between dialogue or during natural pauses, a narrator describes key visual elements, such as “She smiles and gently closes the door” or “The upset girl sits on the stairs,” allowing viewers to follow the plot and emotional cues.

Organizers noted that the initiative reflects a growing commitment to accessibility and inclusive cultural experiences in Iran.

The 37th edition of the festival ends on October 8 in Isfahan, featuring three main sections - National (feature films, shorts, and animation), International, and Special Programs.
